An estimated 1,800 dogs were shown recently during the three-day dog show hosted by the Ann Arbor Kennel Club at the Monroe County Fairgrounds.

“We had a lot of dogs,” fair Manager Darryl Diamond said Monday. “The turnout on Sunday (July 11) was smaller. They came from all over the country and our camping areas were sold out.”

Exhibitors came from as far away as California, Montana and Washington and also from the East Coast, Diamond said. The show is one of the most popular non-fair week attractions of the year at the fairgrounds.

Another show is planned Oct. 1-3 and will be hosted by the Monroe Kennel Club.

“That one is a little bit smaller, but both shows are ranked in the Top 10 shows in the country,” he said.
